Abstract

The reaction of nickel acetate tetrahydrate with Schiff base 2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethylimino)methyl] phenol (HL) in a methanol–water solution, adding NaN3 as a bridging ligand, yielded the complex [Ni(L)(μ1,1-N3)H2O]6·H2O. An X-ray structure determination showed that the complex is nearly a perfect hexagonal structure, and temperature (2–300 K) dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements indicated that it possesses ferromagnetic behavior.
