Abstract
This paper proposes a novel electromagnetic transient model of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system, which is mainly applied in the DC feed-in system to simulate the commutation failure of DC system caused by the AC fault on the inverter side. In this model, the quasisteady-state model is used to simulate the electrical characteristics of converter transformer and converter on the rectifier side. All the primary equipments of DC line and DC system on inverter side are reserved, which adopt electromagnetic transient model. In addition, the DC control system applies detailed model without any simplification. In this way, the computing speed can be improved without affecting the simulation accuracy of the dynamic response on the inverter side. By setting up an testing example in the electromagnetic transient simulation software, the simulation results indicate that the proposed model can accurately simulate the commutation failure caused by the AC fault on the inverter side, and its calculation amount is only about 1/3 of the calculation amount of two-terminal electromagnetic transient model.
