Abstract
Abstract Conventional thermal imaging systems which have two fields of view use an i.r. scanner and telescope with provision for the movement or substitution of lens elements. A simple modification to the RSRE coaxial scanner configuration permits two fields of view to be obtained simultaneously, using only a single detector. This paper outlines the design and development of such a scanner, and describes the additional electronic packages and optical elements required to realise this novel concept. The scanning aberrations are lower than many exisiting scanners. A description of the manufacture of the first development model, assembled in August 1984, is presented and system design implications are discussed.
