Abstract

Three-dimension (3D) MIMO is considered as one of the key technologies for the fifth generation (5G) communication systems. In order to better assess the system performance, it is essential to build a corresponding accurate 3D channel model. This paper proposes a 3D Weichselberger model by structuring a novel coupling matrix, which is derived from 3D WINNER channel model. Specifically, the 3D Weichselberger model is developed for arbitrary antenna arrays and arbitrary propagation environment. In addition, our proposed coupling matrix not only reduces the complexity, but also considers the joint-dependence between transmitter and receiver for 3D Weichselberger model. Moreover, the channel capacity of 3D Weichselberger model is analyzed. Simulation results are provided to confirm the proposed model.
