Abstract

This paper proposes a novel composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) composed of capacitively coupled cylindrical left-handed (LH) unit cells, exhibiting a leaky wave phenomenon in a wide frequency range from LH to Right-handed (RH) branches. A prototype model including 10 LH unit cells is demonstrated and leakage from 3.2GHz to 9.0GHz was observed both theoretically and experimentally. Due to the benefit of the cylindrical-shaped LH unit cell, the TL configuration can be chosen flexibly from a straight line to a curved or a bent configuration.
