Abstract

Traditional control method of SVPWM with dead time reduces the output voltage and distorts the waveform of phase current. This paper presents a novel method to compensate the dead time effects by combine the 180 °conduction type and 120°conduction type. In this method an arbitrary space voltage vector is synthesized with the twelve basic voltage vectors. As a result, the effects of dead time and the short of pipes are avoided or weakened so that the speed performance of PMSM is improved significantly. The novel control algorithm without dead time reduces the waveform distortion and harmonic content of output voltage and it improves the utilization of the DC bus voltage. Theoretical analysis and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
