Abstract

In this study, we investigated a novel triangularly etched defective ground structure (TE-DGS) microstrip line fed a compact slotted ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna. The proposed antenna has a compact design size of 20 × 28 mm2 and a distinctive slotted patch configuration printed on a FR-4 substrate. The described antenna has a fractional bandwidth of 130% and an S11 value of less than -10 dB across 3.1-14.52 GHz. The radiator was practically fabricated, and the experimental findings concurred well with the results obtained from the simulation. Across the entire operational bandwidth, the designed antenna preserved excellent impedance matching, constant gain, and steady radiation patterns in the frequency domain as well as constant group delay, minimized isolation, and linear phase in the time domain.
