Abstract

A new degenerate dual-mode cut corner square patch resonator filter with defected ground structure (DGS) is investigated. The patch resonator is analyzed using full wave IE3D simulator. It has been shown that etching cross H-shaped slots in the ground beneath the square patch reduces significantly the patch area. Area saving of more than 80% can be easily achieved using the proposed structure. Compact size with low insertion loss and wide stopband filter is designed, analyzed, and tested. Simulation and experimental results agree well.
