Abstract

We have synthesized the poly(β-hydroxy ketone)s 1 and poly(β-hydroxy ester)s 2 by means of a novel polyaddition reaction of bis(triethylsilyl enol ether) 5 and bis(triethylsilyl ketene acetal) 7 with various dialdehydes 8–10, respectively. When chirally modified Lewis acids were used as catalyst for the polyaddition, optically active polymers were obtained.
