Abstract

ABSTRACT: The new portuguese Law on Voluntary Arbitration has come into force on March 15th 2012. The new Law confirms Portugal as a jurisdiction truly friendly to arbitration, integrating the country in the universe of the legislations that were inspired by the UNCITRAL Model Law. In a first article, it seemed adequate to choose for a general view of its new legal aspects and dinamics. This work intends to provide a view of the essencial characteristics of the new Law, allowing the Brazilian jurists a guide through important legislative alterations.
