Abstract
Abstract 1. 1. A series of cases presenting nodules beneath the conjunctiva, “ bung-eye,” and “ bulge-eye ” was studied. 2. 2. All nodules showed a definite histopathology, associated in three cases with the presence of a nematode worm, the zoological status of which has not yet been determined. 3. 3. Several cases presenting nodules were also affected with bung-eye, bulge-eye, or both. 4. 4. The whole series of cases showed a high average eosinophilia. 5. 5. The authors consider that invasion of the ocular tissues by an unidentified nematode worm is the probable explanation of subconjunctival nodules, bungeye, and bulge-eye.
