Abstract
Jimenez et al. measured the relaxation modulus of PMMA and PTFE and pointed out that the experimental data can be fitted by a fractional Maxwell model [A. Hernández-Jiménez, J. Hernández-Santiago, A. Macias-García, J. Sánchez-González, Relaxation modulus in PMMA and PTFE fitting by fractional Maxwell model, Polym. Test. 21 (2002) 325–331]. It is shown herein that the fractional Maxwell model with the parameters given by Jimenez et al. has large deviations from the experimental data. The reason for the deviation is discussed. The parameters of the fractional Maxwell model for PMMA and PTFE that can fit the experimental data appropriately are presented.
