Abstract

A new Ni11-cluster sandwiched phosphotungstate supported by Ni(H2O)5 group H2[Ni(H2O)6]{[Ni11(OH)6(H2O)(en)2(Hen)2(L)3](PW9O34)2[Ni(H2O)5]}·20H2O (1, en = 1,2-ethylenediamine, L = iminodiacetate), has been made under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR spectrum, thermogravimetric analysis, elemental analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction, respectively. The structure analysis reveals that 1 contains the Ni11-cluster sandwiched polyoxoanion {[Ni11(OH)6(H2O)(en)2(Hen)2(L)3](PW9O34)2}6−, which is further linked each other via NH···O H-bond interactions to form a zigzag chain. UV–Vis spectrum reveals that 1 is a wide-gap semiconductor. Electrochemical behavior of 1 illustrated that the three pairs of redox peaks attributed to the redox process of the WVI centers.
