Abstract

A method to evaluate activation enthalpies for serrated flow from the magnitude of stress drops and from time intervals between those drops is further developed. The results obtained by means of the new method are apparently in agreement with those obtained with the conventional method. However, some aspects do not support the basic assumptions upon which the common theory of dynamic strain aging is founded.
