Abstract

This paper presents a new structure of piezoelectric-ceramic torsional-mode vibrator. The vibrator consists of a piezoelectric-ceramic hollow-cylinder using no adhesion. On its outer cylindrical surface interdigital electrodes are located at an inclined angle of 45 degrees against the cylinder axis. The interdigital electrodes are used both for poling and for AC excitation. The capacitance ratio of about 5.8 was experimentally obtained for the fundamental torsional-mode. This torsional-mode vibrator has an advantage of much more simple construction than the conventional vibrators.
