Abstract

Allonais arieli sp. n. has been collected from the Rio de la Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, living in association with Eichhornia crassipes and studied in whole mounts and by scanning electron miscroscopy techniques. The main characteristics of A. arieli sp. n. are: presence of hair chaetae and simple pointed dorsal chaetae; bifid crotchets in ventral bundles and sub‐terminal anus. It is a fast swimmer species.
