Abstract

A new species of Pontella Dana, 1846 from Indonesian waters is herein described. Pontella mayalibit n. sp. is distinguishable in the female by having a small posterodorsal beak-like process on the left side of Ur1, the extremely asymmetrical CR and the form of the P5; in the male by the Ur1 naked, the slender thumb of the chela and the elongated and slender shape of the finger of the right P5. Pontella surrecta is recorded for the first time in Indonesia and an expanded description is provided based on topotypic specimens. The female is distinguishable by having a very large posterodorsal beak-like process of Ur1, the asymmetrical CR and the form of the P5; while the male by the long posterior corners of Pdg5, the elongated thumb of the chela and the very slender shape of the finger of the right P5.
