Abstract
Thaxterogaster is a species-rich genus with more than 170 species worldwide, but the actual species diversity in China remains poorly understood. In this study, T. sinoscaurus, collected in mixed forests from China, is described as new to science. The new species is mainly characterized by an olive brown to yellowish viscid pileus of strongly hygrophanous streaks margin, marginate bulb stipe, green universal veil, distinct blue in the context of the stipe, and big ellipsoid to oblong basidiospores. The distinct taxonomic status of T. sinoscaurus is confirmed by the ITS phylogenetic analyses. In addition, five new combinations in this genus are proposed.
