Abstract

A new receptance-based perturbative multi-harmonic balance (RPMHB) method for the calculation of the steady state response of systems containing localized non-linear elements is developed in this paper. The method uses receptance data directly so that modelling errors can be avoided, and the size of the problem is related only to the number of co-ordinates at which non-linear elements are attached. Two perturbation approaches are suggested, and linear and quadratic approximations are proposed for the estimation of a newly perturbed system. The method is accurate and computationally effective. Numerical results are presented.
