Abstract

A new Nd2Fe14B Halbach cylinder ring is fabricated by combining with magneto-mechanical molding and sintered process. It does not only exhibit larger surface magnetic flux density (ca.401mT), but also shows better magnetic field homogeneity comparing to spliced Halbach magnets (ca.324mT). Furthermore, performance of motor based on spliced and integrated Halbach magnet is also characterized and compared in detail. The power and torque of motor based on integrated Halbach magnet are effectively improved to be 20% and 9.4%, respectively. Moreover, the working efficiency of motor based on integrated Halbach magnet increases from 90% to 96% comparing to spliced Halbach magnet. These results do not only confirm formation of integrated Nd2Fe14B Halbach cylinder ring with high performance, but also provide a new method to improve performance of permanent magnet motor.
