Abstract
Eighteen N-protected dipeptide esters were synthesized using dialkyl phosphite as a coupling reagent. The reaction proceeded probably through a mixed carboxylic-phosphoric anhydride intermediate. The dipeptide esters were prepared in satisfactory yields and low racemization.
