Abstract

The mission of the new journal is to focus on the rapid dissemination of the science and practice of otolaryngology–head and neck surgery. As a companion journal to The Laryngoscope, the focus of Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology is to publish high-quality, original, peer-reviewed research across the spectrum of basic and clinical research in an open access format to the worldwide community. Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology will publish contributions in the form of comprehensive reviews, research articles, clinical trials, short reports, in-depth perspectives, and theoretical and/or translational articles. Negative results and confirmatory studies may be published as short communications. As you are probably aware, the publication model for an open access journal is different from a traditional subscription-model journal like The Laryngoscope. There is no subscription charge. Once accepted and published, the content is free and available to anyone in the world. Publication costs are paid by the authors through an article publication charge, and most research grants allow the use of grant funds for that purpose. In fact, studies funded by the National Institutes of Health and some other national funding agencies are required to be published in an open access journal. The Triological Society and editorial teams from The Laryngoscope and Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology welcome submissions to this new journal, effective immediately. You can submit articles at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/laryninvesotohns. Again, subscription is not required to read the journal. You can access Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology at laryngoscopeinvestigativeoto.com. D. Bradley Welling, MD, PhD Editor-in-Chief Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology Michael G. Stewart, MD, MPH Editor-in-Chief The Laryngoscope
