We obtain a new nonlinear algebra with irrational deformation functions. This algebra is generated by the Hamiltonian and natural operators in the first Pöschl-Teller potential, and can be viewed as a nonlinear spectrum-generating algebra. It becomes the ordinary su(1,1) Lie algebra when the deformation parameter tends to zero.
