Abstract

Tabernaemontana corymbosa is used in folk medicine for the treatment of hypertension, sore throat, and abdominal pain by the Dais in Yunnan Province. The crude alkaloid extract of T. corymbosa were successively subjected to D-101 macroporous resin, MCI gel, and ODS column chromatography and purified via preparative HPLC to afford a new aspidospermar-type monoterpenoid indole alkaloid, named tabercarpamine K (1). The structure of 1 was elucidated using spectroscopic methods. Compared to the structure of vincamine, a hydroxyl group is substituted at C-19 and a proton, instead of a hydroxyl, is attached to C-16 in 1.
