Abstract

The research status of 2-D machining of cutting edge and flanging edge of automobile die are reviewed, and the key factor that influences the cycle and cost is pointed out. According to the characteristic of NC machine command and the particular requirement of cutter location precision during cutting, a new spiral interpolation algorithm is presented based on the in-depth analysis of pre-interpolation. The influences of the height of die edges, the length of cutter’s side blade and holder collision are all considered during interpolation, which make the upper cutter blade used as much as possible without any holder collision. Finally, the high-efficient auto NC machining of 3-D die edges is realized.
