Abstract

The Journal of Optical Microsystems is a gold open access journal that publishes cutting-edge research in all aspects of optical and photonic microsystems, from materials and fabrication of micro-optical and photonic components, through assembly and packaging, to systems and applications. Open access fees will be waived for all submissions through 2022.

Highlights

 • Welcome to the Journal of Optical Microsystems (JOM)

 • If you are an optics researcher or developer working at the forefront of miniaturized systems, combining photonics with microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), conceiving of microsystems which incorporate novel optical materials, or applying nano-optics to exciting new applications, you are in the right place

 • Based on a rich spectrum of advances in basic optical physics and coupled with the engineering capabilities derived from microelectronics, optical microsystems represent a diverse and highly interdisciplinary direction in engineering, much of which is difficult to pigeonhole into an established scientific discipline
