Abstract
A new flavone glycoside A, m.p. 248-251 °C, C 33 H 40 O 20 , [M] + 756 (FABMS) has been isolated from methanol soluble fraction of defatted seeds of Cassia sophera Linn. alongwith a known compound B, 5-hydroxy-7,4',5'-trimethoxyisoflavone-3'-O-β-D-glucopyranoside. Compound A was characterized as, 5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxy flavone-5-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→3)-O-β-D-xylopyranoside by various colour reactions, chemical degradations and spectral analysis.
