Abstract

In this paper, a new Distribution Management System (DMS) based on security region is proposed. First, the model and topological characteristics of Distribution System Security Region (DSSR) are both introduced. This new theoretic tool provides a chance to implement real-time security analysis and control for distribution systems. Second, this paper proposes and describes five security states for distribution systems. Third, an upgraded DMS enhanced with DSSR is proposed, which consists of security analysis, monitoring, alarming, advanced security control such as preventive and predictive control of operating points trajectory. Finally, a practical case is presented to simulate the proposed the new DMS, in which the security region of network is calculated, and real-time monitoring and typical security functions are also demonstrated.
