A new Co-based coordination polymer with a N-tripodal ligand: Synthesis, crystal structure, and inhibition of human osteosarcoma cells

Abstract

A new coordination polymer with the chemical formula {[Co(tib)2(H2O)2]·(NO3)2}n (1, tib = 1,3,5-tri(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene) is synthesized under N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) and water conditions. The structure of complex 1 is characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography along with the elemental analysis. Furthermore, a mechanical grinding method is used to produce nanostructured 1 (nano 1) with the average size distribution of around 260 nm. To evaluate the inhibitory effect of nano 1 on human osteosarcoma MG-63 cells, the CCK-8 assay is performed with HEK-293 used as the normal control cells. After that the anticancer mechanism of the compound is explored by FITC Annexin V Apoptosis Detection Kit I.
