Abstract

The crystal structure of a material plays significant role in determining physical properties. Therefore, a detailed study of the crystal structures of materials is necessary. In this article, a method is used that gives acceptable solutions for wave distribution in these structures. The idea of this method is taken from plate theories. In this research, the second-order plate theory is used to calculate the sound velocity in cubic and non-cubic crystal structures. The interesting point of this idea is that with the help of this methodology, both the bulk behavior of the material and the behavior of the crystal structure of the material can be studied at the same time. More than 100 cases include 17 materials are studied in this research. According to the knowledge of the authors, this idea is used for the first time and has not been studied and verified before. Also, it is added a comprehensive overview of plate theories in the appendix which can give the readers better views about present modeling. It can be seen that the results of the present method have a difference of less than 1 percent compared to other methods for cubic materials in some of the studied cases.
