Abstract

A novel approach to the optimal design of linear multivariable systems with a multi-performance-index is presented. The proposed method decouples the multivariable control system into multiple subsystems and converts the whole system's optimal poles assignment problem into a process of selecting the optimal coefficients of each decomposed subsystem. A subsystem then is designed with its own performance index. An efficient computational algorithm has been developed for the application of this optimal design method. The proposed algorithm is a direct procedure once the performance indexes are selected for the subsystems, and the pole assignment of each subsystem can be computed in parallel. >
