Abstract

The domain of smart city has gained much attention among academics and practitioners. Even without a general agreement on what Smart City is, almost all authors agree on the importance of citizen's participation. A brief review of recent literature acknowledge that cities have developed different ways to engage citizens in the smart city design. Nonetheless, this co-creation process does not include ordinary citizens without technological expertise. This paper fills this gap by studying citizen' perception of the smart city project of Casablanca city. A netnographic research was conducted to understand these perceptions. The study provides a variety of insights into smart city representations and issues for further research.
