Abstract

Aiming at overcoming the disadvantages of the common spring-type or compressed gas-type needle-free injection system, a needle-free injection system based on linear Lorentz-force actuator was presented. The mechanics of injection process was investigated. The theoretical model for jet injection pressure, nozzle and ampoule dimension, and the driving force was established. An injection pressure measurement system was set up. The pressure of the nozzle's exit was measured. Results show that the Lorentz-force needle-free injection system generated enough injection pressure to piece into skin. The system has features such as simple structure, double direction movement, and controllable driving force, and overcomes disadvantages of the common needle-free injection system. The present work has laid the foundation of the product development of a novel injection system.
