Abstract

SUMMARY By serial blind passage in chick embryo yolk sacs, a Bedsonia infection was demonstrated in four out of fifteen animals from a closed conventional guinea-pig colony. Serological examination by the complement fixation test failed to detect infected animals. The implications of these findings on the use of guinea-pigs for the isolation of Bedsonia in diagnosis and the possible source of the infection are discussed.
