Abstract
The investigation of incidents of computer abuse requires many diverse technical skills beyond the training of most investigators. These skills are necessary to conduct the investigation properly and to minimize the impact of both the abuse and the investigation on the victim organization. Basic concepts and procedural recommendations for those who will conduct computer abuse investigations will be presented. A multi-disciplinary team approach will be stressed to enable the investigator to collect and analyze evidence necessary to solve the problem and prosecute the abuser.
