Abstract

In this article, a GST-based metamaterial three-band absorber in the terahertz region with switching and biosensing capabilities, was investigated. The proposed absorber exhibited a high absorption rate of 99% at three different resonance frequencies of 2.49 THz, 7.557 THz, and 9.13 THz. Additionally, the absorber demonstrated switching capability due to the amorphous and crystalline states of the GST phase change material. Its sensitivity to changes in the refractive indices of the test environment was evaluated, and its performance in detecting hemoglobin was studied. The proposed absorber showed a sensitivity of 2061.5 GHz/RIU, 2045 GHz/RIU, and 2041 GHz/RIU in the first to third resonance frequencies. Finally, to validate the proposed structure, an equivalent circuit model was proposed, the results of which showed good agreement with the results of simulation and impedance analysis.
