Abstract
ABSTRACT In this paper we consider the problem of production management within a steel manufacturing system, which produces a wide range of articles. The aim of this study is to propose a decision support system for this firm, in order to make the due dates reliable. First we describe the context of the problem and the production process. Then we define aggregate levels for machines, products and time, and we describe a model based on a hierarchical representation, which consists of three units: long term, medium term and short term.
