Abstract
The system includes a complete rock nomenclature based on parameters of sedimentary structure, grain texture, maturity, cementing material and primary detrital mineral composition. Detrital composition is based on a three-pole arrangement in which are delineated quartzose, feldspathic and lithic suites. Special names are provided for certain rock types within the suites. Each suite has particular tectonic significance.
