Abstract
Soon after Neil Brice's death, W.I. Axford and C.F. Kennel proposed to AGU a “Neil Brice Memorial Lecture” on planetary magnetospheric physics. Many of his friends and colleagues wrote to AGU in support. We do not know why this proposal failed. Perhaps it was because an honorarium and travel expenses were involved. We do know that Neil Brice cared about ideas, not money. Why not just name an annual lecture after Neil Brice? To speak under his name is honor enough. If you agree, why don't you write George Reid, the president of the AGU Solar‐Planetary Relationships Section? He has agreed to take charge of the proposal, should there be enough support for it. Please write, today, before you forget, to George C. Reid, Aeronomy Laboratory, NOAA, 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80303.
