Abstract

We report on the development of a miniaturized Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM)-based β detector aimed as an upgrade of the newly commissioned Fast Tapestation at CERN-ISOLDE, dedicated for online radioisotope production measurements. The detector consists of a thin 3 mm plastic scintillator coupled to a custom 3 × 3 array of 6×6mm2 sized SiPM cells in a signal-driven multiplexer configuration. The preamplifier is a low power design, outputting a slow signal for energy measurements and fast signal for timing applications, both channels being equipped with adjustable gain. The whole detector fits in the available space of 30×30×30mm3.
