Abstract
A microstrip leaky-wave antenna with the open stopband suppressed is investigated. The suppression of the open stopband is achieved with two identical stubs per unit cell. Previously, it was found that the open stopband usually could not be completely suppressed if a microstrip unit cell contains two identical stubs. In this paper, it is found that the open stopband can be completely suppressed for the periodic structure, if the length of the two stubs and the distance between them can be proper designed. Based on this investigation, a microstrip periodic leaky-wave antenna with the open stopband suppressed is designed. The simulated results are shown to verify the proposed theory.
