Abstract
The design and performance of an oceanographic tide measuring instrument is described. Tidal data converted to read directly in engineering units is stored on EPROMS (erasable programmable read only memories). The storage capacity is about 80 days of data which is sampled every 15 minutes. The instrument has built-in interfaces to a seven segment display, a printer and a chart recorder so that the user can inspect data in the field. Data collected over a week of unattended operation at the Mandovi River, Goa is presented.
