Abstract

A method if solution for the forming of thin shells, the shape of which is given before and after working, is developed based on some geometrical conception with regard to the deformation of surfaces, by use of the total strain theory. As an example, the stress and strain distribution of a circular cylindrical shell worked out from a annular plate is calculated, and the general feature about the working limit of usual ductile materials is made clear.
