Abstract

With large scale wind power integration, the influence of wind power with intermittence and randomness to power grid becomes more and more serious. Improving the accuracy of wind power prediction becomes a key technical to ensure the safe power grid operation with large scale wind power. In this paper, the method of regional wind power prediction is presented. The representative wind farms is selected according to the climate, terrain, landform and the operation conditions of the wind farms, then the regional wind power is calculated by the Nelder-Mead method. The simulation results demonstrate that the regional wind power prediction method improves wind power prediction accuracy effectively compared to traditional methods and is of great value to power grid accommodating large scale wind power.
