Abstract

A metal organic cage, [Cu6(L)4(DMF)2(H2O)4](1,4-Dioxane)2(DMF)10(H2O)4 (H3L = 4,4′,4″-(benzene-1,3,5-triyltris(oxy))tribenzoic acid) (FJU-18), has been constructed by six Cu2(CO2)4 paddle-wheel building units and eight semi-rigid L. The porous FJU-18 containing large cage of 1.6 nm shows high catalytic activity for the ring opening of styrene oxide in methanol at 65 °C under nitrogen atmosphere.
