Abstract

We constructed two mathematical non-linear programming models for the design of the leafy vegetable Vertical Column Farming System (VCFS), based on different plantation field’s geographical location divided by the Tropic of Capricorn and Cancer. The objective function of both models is set as the maximum gross output amount of vegetable and the constraints inside these non-linear programming models include the vegetable crop’s minimum sunlight exposure time requirement. An example optimal solution of the non-linear programming model, for plantation fields lying beyond the Tropic of Capricorn and Cancer, is submitted by mathematical software using Genetic Algorithm.
