Abstract

A general formulation of the nuclear-structure problem in relative co-ordinates is given. A two-body-force local Hamiltonian is assumed. The theory consists of a recurrence procedure over the number of particlesN. TheN-particle energy eigenvaluesE and the fractional parentage coefficients can be obtained in terms of the (N−1)-particle energy eigenvaluesE′ and of the fractional parentage coefficients. Formulae to calculate matrix elements of one-body operators are given in terms of the fractional-parentage coefficients.
