Abstract

• A macromolecular PVC plasticizer was synthesized from polycondensation between PTMG and TPDA. • The as-prepared plasticizer exhibited good plasticization effect, thermal stability and migration resistance. • The plasticized PVC possessed excellent UV shielding performance. A poly (ether ester)-type plasticizer of polyvinyl chloride was designed and synthesized from the polycondensation between poly (tetramethylene ether) glycol and thiazolopyridine dicarboxylic acid. The structure of the macromolecular plasticizer was characterized by FTIR, 1 H NMR and GPC, and its plasticization effect was analyzed and compared with commercial plasticizer dioctyl phthalate. The results revealed that the macromolecular plasticizer had good plasticization effect and thermal stability, meanwhile, the modified PVC exhibited good antimigration and excellent UV-shielding performance due to the unique structure of macromolecular plasticizer.
