Abstract

A low‐cost, moderately high‐speed Apple MacintoshTM‐based data acquisition and analysis system has been developed based on a low‐cost National Instruments■ NuBus TTL interface card with external Nuclear Instruments Module analog‐to‐digital converters. Features of the system include multiparameter coincident pulse height analysis and multichannel scaling in a user‐friendly graphical user‐interface environment of data windows, pull‐down menus, and multiparameter gating. This system has been effectively used for nuclear, atomic, and modern physics experiments in the advanced undergraduate laboratory courses at the University of Michigan. It offers a cost‐effective solution for numerous data acquisition needs.
