Abstract
The Travel Research Association (TTRA) came into existence on January 1, 1970 with the affiliation of the Western Council for Travel Research (WCTR) and the Eastern Council for Travel Research (ECTR), two regional organizations which had long been active in the travel research field. The affilation resulted from the recognition by both councils of the need for an international organization devoted to improving the quality, standards, methodology, timeliness, and effectiveness of travel research.
